PROJECT 4 SENSE OF PLACE: NEIGHBOURHOOD & COMMUNITY
Project 4A SITE ANALYSIS OF NEIGHBOURHOOD AREA
![]() |
Site Analysis of Neighbourhood Area
Project 4a is about site analysis of neighbourhood area. Location plan for my group was at Taman Pekaka, Penang while site plan was at the field of Taman Kejiranan Pekaka and two rolls terrace houses. Before we start doing our site analysis we seperate in small group to make the job easier. In project 4a we need to find out physical and, land use types, layout and housing type, public open space, public facilities and so on.
Therefore, my part was movement network. Network movement of Jalan Pekaka 1 was very busy. This is because there was a residential area and was the main road to Tesco, Sg. dua. We complete the job by counting the vehicles which pass through along the Jalan Pekaka 1 .Choosen time was 4pm ( normal period ) and 5.30pm ( after office hour), The time taken was 5 minutes each. By our observation we found that the network movement was very busy during the pick season ( office hour ). Besides, the road was lack of pedestrian and road notice board.
Overall, the conclusion for our site analysis we found that there was lack of parking site, sound pollution from vehicles and aeroplane and some of the street furniture are damage.
PROJECT 4B NEIGHBOURHOOD LAYOUT PLAN

Neighbourhood Plan
This is my neighbourhood plan, This time our mission is a concept plan to develop only 50% ( about 2 to 3 acres ) at our site location area. Actually in 4B we just need to draw the developed part only buy using scale 1:500 but to make me easier i use the same with 4A which was scale 1: 750.
This part was challenging for all me because I'm ID student don't have any knowledge in site planning. So it was troubled to me. I refer my 4A part as long as 2 days but still can't came ou tany ideas. Because of increasingly pushed for time, I just play put the arrangement of terrace house, semi terrace houses and bungalow liked playing puzzle.
So I chooose upper part for my new development. I add two rolls of double storey terrace house which had 29 units, semi detached house 4 units and bungalow 1 unit. I also construct a open space that beside the bungalow have a garden and gazebo. That is a place for relaxing and jogging. Even I cot down the some of the trees at there but I replant with Ash Tree. Because Ash tree have functions to cool down the air temperature, adsorb dust and it can also reduce the sound pollution.

Workshop 4 Watercolor Painting
Workshop 4
Workshop 4-Watercolour exercise. The first thing to do is trace out the sketches. We not using tracing paper to trace it but we trace at window because we need the sunlight to sketch it out.
Next, we we need use artists alpha watercolor to paint it. This movement was very excited and felt a bit tension. Fortunately, we have almost 10 volunteers second year senior taught us use the correct way to paint it. In the same time, I found that architect watercolor painting was totally different with fine art watercolor painting. Let said, works of fine art painting is thick and heavy with color. While the concept of architect watercolor painting is water+color= watercolor and focus on one point (must be sharp color) .
My focus point is the building. The direction of sunlight was came from left site. So, the left site od the building will be brighter while the covert space will be darker. I used blue color because it can shown in harmonic feel.

HAWKER STALL
Project 3a A Furniture Design
09 Oct- Hahaha...This was my project 3A. Our goal for this project was a hawker stall design. I very headache when I heard this because for no idea. In the begining , I very annoyance until I can't slept well and had nightmare at night.Start from third day I satr do researhing at google, fb and went shopping mall to get some ideas . Finally I got it. The ideas was come from a cupboard design. So, I invented it to design my hawker stall. The name of this hawker stall was "Girls Stall". It look very simple but it was multifunctional. The way to open and close this hawker stall was liked we open the dressing case. In correct way was using door leave concept. Besides, the shelving of the hawker stall were movable. Means that the height of shelving can be change upon the size of goods. The material I suggested was Formica plywood. Formica can withstand the ravages of heat and don't absorb water. Lastly, I used pink colour to colour the body of hawker stall because it can attract the customer usually for girl customers

3b Presentation Drawings
In project 3b we asked to draw plan (top view), two side elevations and two front elevations. I play 3 technical plan in this drawing that were 0.6 ( draw outer part), 0.4 ( inter part ) and 0.3 ( dot line ).The dimension of this hawker stall was 900mm x 600mm x 1800mm ( lenght x width x height ) when closed. It will become 450mm x 300mm x 1800mm when opened for each side.

Two Point Perspective
Haiz...02 Oct, studio. Today work was drawn perspective again. Oh no!!! But this time felt satiesfied because the dear lecturer had showed the drawing technique on the projector. I like this kind of teaching method because we can look clearly and easy to learn. But still ambiguous of it and faint.

Project 2a & 2b

Project 2a Natural Form
The second project is talk about natural beauty. If talk about natural, I think mushroom was the most appropriate choosen. Mushroom are actually a fungus, a special type of organism which has no roots, leaves, flower and seeds. The mushroom I chose was "Shiitake Mushroom." The command name for this mushroom was came from Japanese Language. "Shii" is refers to wood belonging to the Pasiana species of tree. While "Take" was simplified as mushroom. The characteristics were it was brown in colour and it had slightly convex cap that range in 2 to 4 inches in diameter.

Project 2b Man-Made Form
Project 2b must relative with project 2a. So the building I chose was The Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan. This tower was built up by a Chinese contractor who named as Lee Choon Chong in year 1885. The history for this tower was used as water storage . In that time there was no fire brigade , a neccessity in the event of draught. The first impression when I look at this building was it liked made up by 8 grains of Shiitake Mushroom. The outlook of building appearance 8th floor but infact there are only 3 layers. Each 5 meter high. Besides, there are 110 steps connecting the floors which are 15.5 feet high. Base stucture was 43 feet in diameter, wide 6 feet wide corridor. The concept for this building was in octagonal shape building and used chinese architectural elements in the design that were mortar strips, roof and drippers.
Perspective Drawing Using Grid as the Reference
Workshop 3
Third class studio lesson . Ohh No!!! Perspective Drawing ! This class was quite challenging for me because my basic in this skill very weak. Can be said like this, I'm the person who can't draw a straight line even I have ruler. Luckily, the volunteers from second year senior gave us a hand and taught us patiently. But unfortunately, they leave early because they had meeting. So the thing we can do is self-reliance. We erased, erased and erased until we done our job. I worked together with my ID group member and finished at 7 pm. Lastly, I want used this word to describe our feeling today "Crash!!". In conclusion, the gain today were patient and don't give up until we success, That's all. Thanks~
